HOW WE BUILD IT / Designing for Tube Bending

DESIGNING FOR TUBE BENDING

A clear tube drawing gives us more than the finished outline. It tells us the material, OD, wall, bend radii, straight sections, bend orientation and the features that actually control fit.

Space between bends and at the ends affects how the part can be held and formed. There isn't one useful minimum length for every tool and tube combination. Show the finished requirements, and let us review them against the process.

Mark the critical dimensions and datums. If one connection has to land precisely while another can move, say so. Unnecessary tight requirements can complicate a part without improving its function.

Send the current drawing revision and a model if you have one. If the route isn't final, explain the space and connection points you're working around. That's the point where a practical manufacturing conversation can make the biggest difference.
