WALL THICKNESS & OD
OD is the outside diameter. Wall thickness is the thickness of the tube material. ID is the inside diameter. Keep those three measurements separate when you're matching parts.
For an ideal round tube with uniform wall, nominal ID equals OD minus twice the wall thickness. A 2-inch OD tube with a 0.065-inch wall gives a calculated nominal ID of 1.870 inches. This is a geometry example, not an inspection result or a catalog specification.
Bending and manufacturing tolerances can change the actual section. If the opening or finished wall is critical, state the requirement and how it should be checked.
Give wall thickness as a dimension whenever possible. A gauge number without the material and applicable reference can create ambiguity. And if the drawing uses pipe size, say so; nominal pipe size and tube OD are different systems.
